SPLIT-LEVEL CLASSES
Team Training
At Level I, you will learn the fundamental techniques of punching, kicking, footwork, and combinations. You will develop strength and flexibility with a variety of conditioning exercises that cultivate timing, speed, and power through the many different heavy bag and target training drills that are part of the level I curriculum. The focus at this level is the development of proper technique, endurance, muscle strength and flexibility. There is no sparring contact at this level. 14oz. or higher boxing gloves and hand wraps are required.
As you progress to Level II, you will learn interactive offensive and defensive sparring drills with partners in order to develop timing, coordination, reaction skills, instinct and confidence. Throwing, wrestling, and leg and arm grappling are introduced at this level. Practitioners will understand the mental and physical strength it takes to become a fighter. Boxing approved head gear, mouth guard, groin protection (men), shin and in-step protection are required at this level.
At Level III, you will begin free-sparring, bringing all the physical and mental training from levels I and II into play. You will learn various fight strategies to win in competitive sport fighting and self-defense. You will learn the rules to win in sport-fighting events such as San Shou, San Da, Muay Thai, K1 and American/ International Kickboxing. Through sparring, practitioners will feel the true inner strength of a warrior. Boxing approved head gear, mouth guard, groin protection (men), shin and in-step protection are required at this level.
There is no set limit to progress from one level to the next as each individual learns at his/her own pace. Practitioners must thoroughly understand the drills and techniques in each level in order to progress to the next level. Prior experience may be applicable when learning the fundamentals. Practitioners may progress in levels by invitation only from head coaches (Josh or Marvin).
These classes are designed to help students transition from one level to the next. All students are welcome to try split-level classes for classes that are one level above their current level.
Team training is for students who have joined the team to participate in upcoming competitions. These classes are scheduled by coaches, usually near the time of the competition.
